How C&S Music Started

Our story is one familiar to many: as music majors, there was very little we learned of music business and we had very little real-world music marketing experience. When we started C&S Music, there was a lot of learning we had to do, and we had to do it on the fly. Everything from marketing to building a quality website, from social media to building an email list was completely new. We had to build C&S Music from the ground up, and learned a lot of things about business the hard way. We started sharing what we’ve learned on our blog.

During the pandemic, a need arose for students to take their instrument classes online. We pivoted, and so did C&S. As the online side of our business grew we saw the need for online instruction grow even more. Thus, C&S Music School was born.

The C&S Music School Mission: Providing Music Career Coaching, business development, and instrument classes online.

Here at C&S Music, we are passionate about helping musicians navigate the difficult waters of the music industry. That can mean a lot of different things!

Our goal is to resource musicians to make music and, if they want to, make money doing it. Quality musical education is hard to come by on the internet, so we wanted to create a space where musicians can come to grow in their musicianship and pursue music in whatever way is most meaningful to them.

We do that by offering affordable and flexible instruction like one-off tutoring sessions in any music subject, video feedback, and business coaching. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us!

Hi! I’m Alyssa.

I started my musical journey before I can even remember – from the second I started talking, I was singing. I studied piano starting at the age of 5, and started singing seriously when I got to high school. I studied Classical Vocal Performance at Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles, and got to travel all over the world with their world renowned Chamber Singers, singing in the Vatican, St. Peters Cathedral, Notre Dame, and other similar places.
When I moved to Ramona, I started my private music teaching business and became a coach for the Worship Team at Mountain View Community Church, and jumped into the blogging world. When I had my daughter in 2023, my business jumped to almost exclusively online, and we’ve been running with it ever since!

Hi! I’m John.

From honor bands, to conducting opportunities, to composition and theory I have been able to experience music and musicianship from various genres and points of view. I studied Music Education at Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles, and learned to play and teach over 10 instruments during my time there, as well as how to lead and play with musicians, students and teachers alike. I am currently music director for the incredible music program at Mountain View Community Church, where we are committed to growing strong musicians and leaders. Regardless of where you are at in your musical journey there is always something to improve and that is what we here at C&S music want to do for you!
